lyrics

You and me tripping past the candles of eternity. No one else around us it was Christmas Eve. You said I could never survive love. Hand in hand shivering and hungry in a foreign land. Walking in our shoes that could not block the cold. I said I’m not ready to let go. And oh the way we talked was so torrid, always on the cliffside of despair. And oh the thoughts we had were so empty, nothing but a constant stream of air. Food and sleep, waking up to music in a new city. No one there to tell me I was suffering. Nothing but the rising of the sun. O-bla-di, pain is like an overwhelming melody. You forget the beauty of humanity. Then that melody is finally gone. All my genuflections were so boring, conscience truly wasted on the young. And let’s just leave the opera to Florence, man needs so much more in life than love. Oh when all your nerve endings are telling you to hide. Oh even if it’s just pretending, if you can just lie to yourself you might survive. Oh the universe is endless, I know this but I know that you still gave me a little bit of warmth and some light.
